Andy Greig

Andrew was born and brought up in East Fife. He started learning the two-row melodeon from a young age having being encouraged by his father who also played. While being self-taught he progressed very quickly which led him to buy a Shand Morino accordion from Jimmy Shand in the 1950’s. He has played extensively throughout both at home and abroad and has been quest artist at many, many accordion clubs. He is widely admired for his style of playing which has great “lift” and has a very extensive repertoire for a button box player which makes him very popular with dancers and audiences alike. Andy is also an exponent of Robert Burns and has been widely involved in Burns suppers over the years for his knowledge of both Burns music and verse and is one of the few Shand Morino players who is always smiling.
