We are delighted to announce another artist for Robbie Byrnes night. Mary Kelly, one Ireland’s finest harpists, has confirmed she will be joining us. Originally from Freshford (County Kilkenny), she now teaches in Dublin. Mary has won numerous awards and accolades for her performances and is the holder of the prestigious Bardic Award that was presented to her by Comhaltas Ceolteoiri Eireann.
Music lovers are in for a real treat as Mary’s talent has led to her travelling the world representing Ireland. She has accompanied both President Mary Robinson and President Michael D Higgins on many trade missions. Despite playing for such illustrious company, Mary still plays locally. She took part in The Acorn Club’s 1916 Commemoration in St Lachtains C of I in Fresh- ford in April and is extremely committed to Freshford and Castlecomer communities.
A harpist with heart, everyone is looking forward to hearing her play her magical instrument. Mary will play for the Lord Mayor of Kilkenny at the Official Opening of the Big Squeeze in St Kierans College on Sat 13th Aug (10am) and will also be our special guest at the “Robbie Byrnes Night” in Freshford on sun Aug 14th (8pm).
